About our School

In our school we have 95 children on roll; including 19 children registered in our Nursery who access our early years provision on a flexible basis from the term after their third birthday. Our children are organised into four separate mixed-age classes.

Class 1: Our Early Years classroom hosts our Reception and Nursery children in a large, spacious indoor classroom space with an additional area on an upper floor accessed via a staircase from the main classroom.  We also have a wonderfully resourced outdoor area that is used widely by all the children for a range of different purposes regardless of the weather.   The children are well supported by our Early Years Lead, Mrs Haslam, and a team of highly skilled and passionate teaching assistants.

Class 2:  This class is the home for our Year 1 and 2 pupils who are very well supported by their classteacher, Miss Heaton and two highly skilled and experienced, teaching assistants, Mrs Mason and Mrs Court.

Class 3:  Our Year 3&4 class is taught by Ms Chapman and supported by our teaching assistants, Mrs Lawless and Mrs Mason.

Class 4: Children in years 5&6 are taught by Mr Dean, and supported by Mrs Matheson and Mrs Court.

Routines of our day:

Children say goodbye to parents on our playground and enter the school building through various entrances from 8.35am.  Learning begins as soon as the pupils arrive and so our children settle quickly within a calm, purposeful and structured environment.  Our registers are taken at 8.45am.  Children arriving after this time receive a late mark and must be signed into school at our main school entrance.

All the children enjoy a morning break.  Pupils in KS1 and EYFS enjoy a fruit snack each morning where as children in KS2 may bring a healthy nut-free snack – such as fruit, rice cakes or bread sticks from home.  Our infant children, including nursery and Reception, play outside from 10.15am every morning, whereas our Ks2 pupils play out a little later in the morning from 10.35am.

Each morning, we have our daily act of collective worship in the school hall.  Every Friday we have our Celebration Assembly to share our learning and congratulate the children mentioned in the Golden Book who are recognised for doing something wonderful. Take a look at our online calendar on this website to find out when our next Celebration Assembly for parents and family members is taking place.

EYFS and our KS1 pupils begin their lunchtime session at 11.45am. All other classes being their lunchtime session at 12noon.  The children eat a hot meal, freshly made on the premises or bring a packed lunch from home.  During the lunch break, all our pupils have time to enjoy the games and equipment provided to keep them physically active throughout their social times.

Our afternoon session begins at and 12.45pm for our infants and 1pm for all junior pupils.  School closes for the day at 3.15pm. Our Nursery provision finishes a little earlier at 3pm each day.  Parents come into school playground to greet the children and enjoy the opportunity to talk to class teachers, if necessary, at the end of the day.  Many of our children enjoy attending YoYo Club which provides after-school care for our working families from Monday to Thursday until 5.15pm.  Alternatively, we also offer a range of after-school extra-curricular activities for the children to enjoy around the year – these include running club, dodgeball, art and lego club.
