A Spotacular day for Children In Need

The whole school have had a brilliant day raising money for Children In Need.

The School Council ran a cake sale at playtime, under expert supervision of Mrs Mason. Thank you for all your kind donations.

We all donated £1 to wear spots for the day. Here are our two youngest children showing off their spots!

The School Council also volunteered to make a cake each to be raffled. Everyone tried their luck and bought a ticket. The lucky winners were announced in Good Work Assembly.

‘Well Done’ and ‘Thank You’ to everyone involved! We’ve had successful day and lots of fun was had by all. We will share the grand total raised next week.

Boxes of Hope

The volunteers from the Boxes of Hope collected our shoesboxes yesterday. In all we sent 20 shoe boxes which will be distributed with thousands of other donations to children in Romania.

A big thank you to those who filled a shoe box this year.

Yoyo fun

Our favourite things at Yoyo club include…

building with Lego, drawing, colouring, playing with the farm and cars, reading books together, playing catch or football, making dens, baking, playing café, playdough and lots more.

At snack time we have carrots, apples, grapes, oranges, biscuits and juice – Yum!

Autumn Disco

Lots of fun and dancing was had on Wednesday evening, the girls looking lovely and the boys playing it cool!

School Council ran the games, with the help of our super DJs.

Look who visited us today!

We had a special visit from Pudsy Bear this afternoon. He came in preparation for Children in Need day on Friday. You’ll see us dressed in spots, selling cakes and holding a cake raffle to raise funds this Friday.

Remembrance

At 11 o’clock, on the 11th day of the 11th month, we joined with people all over the world in our Service of Remembrance.

This is what the children had to say about it:

“We were thinking about soldiers who died in the war. They gave away a life for another.”

“My Grandad was in World War II. He didn’t die.”

“They fought for us to have freedom.”

“We had to stand respectfully and peacefully.”

“They sacrificed their lives so that we could have a better life.”

“The poppies are the blood of the people, the soul of the person and were on the battlefield.”

Learning new ball skills

On Thursday afternoon’s Mrs Mason has been coaching Skiddaw class in netball skills. It has been wonderful to be able to play outside in the late autumn sunshine. Thank you to Katie for taking these photos of us in action!

Amazing Mazes

After listening to the rather gruesome Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, we set to work on creating mazes of all kinds. Some of us wanted to create them in lego, others in boxes, some of paper or on a computer. Others wanted to be able to crawl inside their maze themselves!

Take a look here are some of our creations…

Musical moments

We have been using the well known tune of Frere Jacque and changing the words for this autumn harvest time of celebration.

In music we have been arranging this piece, playing tuned and untuned percussion with great effect. We have been concentrating on working as a team and trying to keep together following the conductor or leader. We videoed last week’s performances and today discussed what went well and what would be even better.

Take a look at our final performances here.
