Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda

Class 3 had a wonderful day putting our classroom learning to good use. We visited the Roman Army Museum and tested our strength to see if we were strong enough to join the Syrian archers. We were very lucky and got to meet ‘Marcus the Medicus’. He told us lots of information on medicine and hygiene in Roman times and also provided our army equipment! We moved on to Vindolanda and had a fantastic afternoon exploring the sites and looking at the artefacts.

Great Tower

Key Stage Two had a marvellous Monday at Great Tower. Despite the drizzle, everyone enjoyed a range of activities. Crate stacking was a highlight, along with tree climbing and archery.  The children all demonstrated resilience and empathy, encouraging each other and developing their team work skills. It was a fantastic chance to try new things and discover new talents.

A wonderful Wednesday at Woodmatters!

Reception had the most wonderful of days yesterday on their first ever school trip to Woodmatters! They explored the woodland for autumn treasure, learnt how to use a steel and flint to make their own fires and cooked caramelised apples on the campfire. The afternoon was spent whittling willow to make into their own charcoal which was used for smudging leaf prints. They also learnt how to use a saw safely to make their own elder bead necklaces.
