A huge well done to all of our Y2/3/4 pupils who performed their dance ‘The Epic Adventure’ on stage at the Brewery Arts annual dance platform event on Tuesday. The children have been working so hard on their performance and have been participating in Miss Heaton’s weekly dance club, supported by Ashleigh from the Brewery Arts dance team. The children thoroughly enjoyed their time on the stage and are already looking forward to taking part next year!
Class 4 have just returned from Patterdale: the most exhilarating three-day experience out of the classroom and the usual school week! Thank you to all the children: they showed incredible courage, determination and enthusiasm for every challenge and were so supportive of each other’s achievements. Thanks also to all the adults accompanying the visit, who have done their utmost to ensure everyone felt safe, confident to step out of their comfort zones, and supported.
We have enjoyed every minute (well almost)!

What an afternoon of amazing resilience, determination and endless energy! The Levens’ running reputation lives on with today’s incredible athletes pushing themselves to the finish line. Not only did every runner complete their best ever run, they also cheered on the side lines supporting their team mates every step of the way. It was wonderful to have such great support from parents and wider family members too!
We have returned with four medals: a gold in the year 5 girls race; a silver in the year 4 boys; a bronze in the year 6 boys and the year 6 girls too!
We are yet to hear our overall placing as a team, but couldn’t be more overjoyed with such enthusiasm, effort and endurance from everyone!
This year we decided to do something a little different again and challenged pupils and staff alike to come to school wearing a hat, headband or headdress linked to a favourite book or character! We were so impressed with everyone’s effort and creative ideas, can you guess our books and characters?

Nursery have been busy this half term, enjoying lots of practical activities to build their pre-writing skills. They have used pipe cleaners, ribbons and natural materials to create diagonals, zigzags and ‘jellies’ and formed them with paint dabbers, chalks, pens and on the interactive whiteboard.
Last week, all pupils spent the week learning about the importance of pilgrimage to different people of faith.
The week started with an introduction to pilgrimage in worship, focusing on special journeys to special places. We compared a kit bag full of things we might take on a holiday abroad compared to a bag containing the types of contents that a Christian might take on a journey to a sacred, holy place. We found out about why so many Catholics from across the globe travel to the south west corner of France to visit Lourdes.
Every day of the week, each teacher spent some time with the different classes teaching them about the importance of pilgrimage to Jews, Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists. On Friday afternoon, the children shared their learning from the week in our special celebration assembly.
Reception have been working hard this week to create their own beautiful Christmas decorations using our woodwork bench, saws and hand drills. They showed perseverance, resilience and patience whilst making their creations. Check out our Instragram page to see the finished results!
Class 4 were treated to a live-chat with a London-based designer who, since graduating from University, has set up his own successful company designing and making functional clothing and accessories for men and women. Max told us a little about his business and we looked at his website, before the children launched into a round of questions on a range of topics including advice for a young designer; the inspiration for his ideas; and how long his designs take to develop from conception to being on sale!
Before he left, he even gave the children some positive feedback on their own designs and creations; and gave some really good advice about choosing a career path that is something you enjoy and can be passionate about.

Last week class 2 walked to the woods. We found lots of insects under our stools! We then created our own bonfires and sparklers recapping our learning all about Guy Fawkes.
