Class Three

Rounders in the sunshine

Class Three had a fantastic afternoon taking part in a rounders event with other local primary schools. The sun was shining for us and we enjoyed the opportunity to play rounders with a variety of teams. We all had great fun and learnt lots of new skills and tactics.

Seasonal Tarts

Class Three have had an amazing day making their own savoury seasonal tart. We started the topic by looking at climate zones and where food is grown, we connected this to food miles and discussed how it is better to eat seasonally where possible. We then moved on to refining our peeling and chopping skills, learning how to safety use vegetable knives and peelers. Following this, we did some taste tests of seasonal foods and used this to design our own seasonal tarts. Our final results were amazing and the children were very eager to try them!

First Aid Training in Class 3

The children had a fantastic morning with Bob earlier this week learning all about first aid.  They learnt how to deal with common issues such as cuts and grazes and then moved on to learning all about CPR and the recovery position. Essential life skills were learnt by the children.

Fantastic French!

Class Three have been learning all about the French names for fruit and vegetables this term. They have previously learnt the names for other foods and have become more confident with ordering foods in French. They have also used the lovely new French dictionaries to look up unfamiliar foods. Brilliant work Class Three.

Orienteering in Class Three.

This half term the children have been learning all about orienteering and team work. This has included a blindfold obstacle course and various challenges on the field. The children have used photographs to locate orienteering stations and have been learning the orienteering symbols.  We have all had great fun doing this.

Class Three collage work.

Class Three have enjoyed learning about the work and techniques used by Suzsi Corio. We used her work as inspiration for our own collage landscapes. I think you will agree they look fantastic. If you are in school, remember to have a look at our display!

Fabulous fieldwork!

The sun was shining for Class Three’s trip to Bowness-on-Windermere. The children had a fantastic day carrying out practical fieldwork and gathering their own data on tourism. This included pedestrian and car counts at different locations in Bowness-on-Windermere. Mapping land use and producing a detailed field sketch. The children also interviewed some visitors to discover why they were visiting the Lake District. The children worked incredibly hard and are now going to use their data to draw some conclusions about the advantages and disadvantages of tourism.

Animation workshop

Class Three had an amazing day learning how to produce an animation. We started the day making our own characters using modelling clay. We then drew a story board and began our animating. We moved our characters very slowly and took a picture of each stage. We needed 12 pictures for each second. We then learnt how to add titles, music and special effects to complete our final piece.

Electric posters.

Class Three were set the challenge of producing an information poster for a museum to educate the public about an aspect of Roman life. The children researched their chosen topic, produced draft designs then refined their final design. They used corrugated card to strengthen their poster and also added an electrical circuit to include a bulb on their final electric poster. I think you will agree they look fantastic as well as providing valuable information.
