Dear Parent/Carer,

Reception Trip – Woodland Adventure Day, delivered by ‘Woodmatters’, at the Footprint Building, Windermere – Tuesday 1st October 2025

I am delighted to share details of an exciting trip I have organised for our Reception pupils, which links to our autumn topic: Learning about Changes in the Natural World. The day will include natural crafts, an introduction to tool use, woodland exploration, learning about seasonal changes, and fire lighting with a campfire snack.

We will be based at the Footprint Building in Windermere, a fantastic venue that supports outdoor learning and environmental education.

Children will be transported by coach, leaving school at 9:15am and returning before 3:15pm. Staff will accompany and supervise the children throughout the day.

To help your child enjoy the day comfortably, please ensure they bring:
• A rucksack they can carry themselves, containing:
o A nut-free packed lunch (provided from home),
o A mid-morning snack,
o A drink.
• Warm layers, comfortable bottoms, and sturdy footwear (items may get muddy, so nothing precious please).
• A waterproof jacket & trousers or a puddlesuit , hat, and gloves, as we will be outdoors for most of the day and exploring in all weather conditions.

Thanks to the generous support of FOLS, who are contributing £10 per child, we are asking for a parental contribution of £16.25 to help cover the remaining costs. Please provide consent and payment via ParentPay by Friday 26th September 2025. Trips like this rely on full contributions to go ahead, and we may need to reconsider arrangements if contributions are not received.

If you have any concerns about the cost, please feel free to contact Mrs Farraday in confidence.

If you have any questions about the trip or transport arrangements, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re really looking forward to a wonderful day of outdoor learning.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs Haslam
