Dear Parents and Carers,
Reception Trip: Woodland Adventure Day Wednesday 21st October 2026, Footprint Building, Windermere
I am delighted to share details of an exciting trip for our Reception children, linked to our autumn topic, Learning About Changes in the Natural World.
During the day, pupils will take part in a range of outdoor activities including:
• Exploring the woodland and observing seasonal changes
• Natural craft activities
• Introduction to safe tool use
• Fire-lighting activities
• Campfire snack experience
Children will leave school shortly after morning registration and spend the full day at the woodland site. The session finishes at 2.15pm, and we expect to return to school in time for the normal 3.15pm finish.
Should there be any unexpected delay, a text message will be sent to parents on the day.
What Your Child Will Need
Please ensure your child arrives at school promptly on the day of the trip.
Children should bring a rucksack that they can carry comfortably, containing:
• A packed lunch from home (no nuts)
• A healthy mid-morning snack
• A drink
As we will be outdoors for most of the day, children should wear:
• Warm layers
• Comfortable trousers or leggings
• Sturdy footwear
• A waterproof coat
• Hat and gloves
Please note that clothing and footwear are likely to become muddy, so children should not wear anything valuable or precious.
Cost and Payment
The activity costs are being supported generously by FOLS. We are therefore asking parents to contribute £21.08 per child to cover the cost of transport.
Please pay via Parent Pay: http://www.parentpay.com/
If you have any concerns about payment, please contact Mrs Farraday in confidence.
If you have any questions regarding the trip, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Haslam
