All children at school entry age will have a routine hearing screening test in school. This will be carried out by the audiometrician sometime during your child’s reception year.
You will be informed by letter if your child needs further hearing tests. This may be done in school or you may be invited to attend one of the Children’s Audiology Clinics. You will not receive a letter if your child passes the screening test. If your child is absent on the day of the screening we will follow him/her up at a later date. Hearing test results obtained in school may be shared with the class teacher or head teacher if appropriate.
If you are happy for your child to receive the hearing screen you do not need to do anything.
If you would prefer your child not to be part of this hearing screening programme you have the right to opt out. To do this, please phone or text the audiometrician – Tel: 01539 718157 Mobile: 07811 714489
Opt outs must be received by 2nd October 2026.
If you are already concerned about your child’s hearing you can phone/text us directly at the number above and book an appointment now for a hearing test at our audiology clinic.
