Dear Parents and Carers,
Class 3 Trip: Castlerigg Stone Circle and Keswick Museum, 19th October 2026
We are pleased to confirm arrangements for an exciting educational visit to Castlerigg Stone Circle and Keswick Museum as part of our learning about the Stone Age.
During the visit, pupils will:
• Explore the historic Castlerigg Stone Circle.
• Take part in specialist Stone Age workshops at Keswick Museum.
• Handle authentic materials and artefacts.
• Learn about the work of archaeologists and how evidence from the past is discovered and interpreted.
We are confident that this experience will enrich the children’s understanding of Stone Age life and provide a memorable learning opportunity.
Travel Arrangements
We will travel by coach, leaving school shortly after morning registration.
The museum session will finish mid-afternoon, and we expect to return to school in time for the usual 3.15pm finish. Should there be any significant change to our return time, a text message will be sent to parents and carers on the day.
What Your Child Will Need
Please ensure your child comes to school wearing:
• Full school uniform
• Warm clothing
• Waterproof outer layers
• Comfortable footwear suitable for outdoor activities
They will also need:
• A packed lunch (nut free)
• A drinks bottle
If your child requires travel sickness medication, please administer a single dose from home before school. Staff are unable to administer this medication during the journey.
Cost and Payment
The total cost of the trip, including transport and workshop activities, is £19.58 per pupil.

As with all school visits, the trip relies on sufficient parental contributions to cover costs. Unfortunately, if we do not receive enough contributions, we may need to cancel the visit.
