All the same – All different!
Our Wednesday morning assembly theme this half term is about raising knowledge and understanding of disabilities and genetic conditions. This week we have been introducing this theme by talking about how some disabilities and conditions can be seen, whereas others are not visibly apparent at all. We would like to encourage you to continue these conversations at home too, so that all our pupils become advocates for inclusion.
As part of this program of learning, we will be taking part in the national event known as ‘Jeans for Genes 2026’ next Friday 18th September and would like your child/children to participate by wearing something denim alongside their school jumper, cardigan or fleece. This can be a pair of jeans, denim shorts, a jacket, a denim headscarf. If you haven’t got any denim then please accessorise with something blue! For this honour, the children are asked to bring in a £1 donation (or something similar) on the morning and hand in to a member of the school council during registration.
Did you know that as many as 1 in 25 children are living with a genetic condition in the UK. By taking part in this fundraising event, we will be helping children and their families who live with genetic
conditions to receive the specialist care, vital equipment and support they most need.
