Creations inspired by the Olympic Rings

In Skiddaw, we are starting our Ancient Greeks topic by looking at the Olympic Games. We have spent the afternoon creating art inspired by the Olympic Rings. We made lots of decisions as we experimented with printing, drawing, model making and using compasses to draw circles. These are some of our creations.

A brilliant first week!

Our nursery children have settled into Bowfell Class beautifully. They are happy, confident and enthusiastic. The children have worked together with our Reception and Year 1 children and have enjoyed exploring our classroom environment.

Marvellous Maths

Our new Year 2 children have been settling in really well. Here are some of them, working on counting and using special counting blocks to represent tens and units numbers.

Learning to work as a team!

First week of the new year and Scafell Class have been learning to work well as a team!   We had to use our communication skills, our patience and adapt our strategies to succeed in each of the challenges!  It was great fun!

Jonah – A Fishy Tale

We finished our summer term in style with a junior performance of Jonah – A Fishy Tale. Acting and singing with gusto, telling the tale of Jonah and the Whale. Thanks to Aggie for the photos.

Visit from Tim Farron

tim-visitWe had a visit from Tim Farron, our local MP and Liberal Democrat leader, he was joined by our local councillor Annie Rawlinson. They participated in mock parliament with Scafell Class and listened to the classes concerns about speeding traffic in the village. He also visited the other classes and got a flavour of the school.

Tim said: “Annie and I had a fantastic visit to Levens Primary School. We discussed the role of both local and national politics, and it was good to hear the students’ views. The pupils showed great enthusiasm for their projects, in particular the work they had been doing about speeding. It was wonderful to see how much the students cared about their community, and their determination to make a positive difference.”

Bowfell Walk

We had a great day out! We took Sam Bear on an adventure to Rydal Caves, it was a bit rocky and uphill but we all made it. A quick snack was needed before making our way along the path to Grasmere Lake. It was a beautiful view of the mountains.
There was plenty of time to run around and paddle in the water before having lunch. Having gained some engery for the walk back, we headed along the edge of Rydal Water.
